Next Generation Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT)
A new boron drug OKD-001 and a new neutron generator to improve boron neutron capture therapy

Background
Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT) is positioned as one of the particle therapy methods. After a large amount of boron isotope 10B is delivered to individual cancer cells, low-energy thermal neutrons are irradiated to induce a nuclear reaction, and only cancer cells are killed by the high-energy alpha rays and Li nuclei produced. The resulting high-energy alpha rays and Li nuclei kill only the cancer cells.
Technology Overview
The NextGen BNCT Project aims to achieve a high quality of life for patients with refractory cancers such as hematologic cancers and malignant brain tumors (glioblastoma: GBM) by applying the new boron drug OKD-001 and a new neutron generator ().
