Background

Chronic itch is a common symptom in atopic dermatitis (AD) affecting millions of people and animals, but its mechanisms are not fully understood or explained. AD has high impact on the health of patients due to elevated risks of comorbities such as arthritis, asthma, or allergic rhinitis. AD is also associated with a high prevalence of anxiety, depression and sleep disorders which can significantly affect the quality of life and work productivity.
