Technology Overview
The invention is a gel-in-gel water-in-oil (W/O) high internal phase emulsion (HIPE) that is ultra-stable and easy to manufacture. The W/O HIPE can simultaneously encapsulate both hydrophilic and hydrophobic substances with high capacity, protect the substances against destabilizing and aggressive environments (e.g., gastrointestinal pH), and release them in a controlled manner.
