Background

The wearable biomedical sensor market has grown at an accelerated pace in recent years due partly to the advancement of low power sensor technology. However, some segments of the market remain untapped due to the difficulty in sensing particular parameters. Several biomedical applications require accurate and concurrent measurement of the movement of a subject, sensing of multiple biopotentials, and detection of wetness caused by bodily fluids. For example, such concurrent measurements could be invaluable in various medical, military, law enforcement, and sports applications where a person’s movement, heart rate, and sweat levels all contribute to determining current health conditions.
