Background

Early diagnosis of COVID-19 infection requires the ability to longitudinally detect SARS-CoV-2 RNAs or viral loads using low-cost and non-invasive diagnostic kits. Also monitoring of immunity levels post-vaccination or post-infection needs quantitative, ultrasensitive, and longitudinal monitoring of host immune antibodies. Technically, none of the commercially available PCR or antigen nasopharyngeal (NP) point-of-care tests have been utilized for longitudinal monitoring of SARS-CoV-2 markers and host antibody response as they are lengthy, invasive, costly, not digital, and still require skilled personnel to operate.
